The uterus – a fantastic muscle

“There is no other organ in the body like the uterus. If men had one too, they would boast about it. We should too.”

Ina May Gaskin, US midwife

Your uterus is a fantastic muscle, even though we in our normal lives do not think too much about it.

In a non-pregnant women it is 7-8 CM. But it can change shape and grow to almost 40 CM in height to host a foetus growing into a full scale human baby.

During your delivery your uterus will perform a marathon-giving birth to your baby. This is at the frontiers of the possible, since human baby heads are relatively large compared to the female pelvis, compared to other mammals. The chief operating officer is – the uterus.
